A Desire brand Debenhams store opening in Dumfries town centre during the summer of 2012 will create 40 new jobs. The Dumfries shop is set to join the existing 13 stores in the â€˜Desireâ€™ line, introduced to the Debenhams chain in 2005.

Fashion retailer Weird Fish is closing its store in Cheltenham with the loss of four jobs. The lease on the store is ending and the company plans to open larger premises in the town. Rebecca Howson is manager of the Cheltenham store.

120 jobs safeguarded - takeover of F Cross and Sons
Marshall Motor Group has completed the takeover of the motor dealerships run by F Cross and Sons, saving 120 jobs. Volkswagen and Kia dealerships in Scunthorpe and Grimsby, and repair workshops for Volkswagen and Renault, will be integrated into the Marshall Motor Group as part of its continuing expansion.

Relocating Peterborough store - larger premises - 88 new jobs
Next Plc is closing its store at Peterborough's Bretton Centre by May 2012. The retailer is opening a new unit at the Brotherhood Retail Park in Peterborough in October 2012 and the 48 employees at the Bretton Centre outlet will be give the opportunity to relocate. The new store will employ 88 staff.

£65m property acquisition - commercial and residential development
Exemplar Properties is purchasing the Quartermile development in Edinburgh from Gladedale Capital for £65m. The unfinished development, which is on the site of the former Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, includes 900 flats, 395,000sq ft of offices and 70,000sq ft of shops and leisure space.
