AES Engineering's AESPUMP has bought pump repairer and supplier Absolute Vacuum for an undisclosed sum. AESPUMP, based in Bedford, manages pump assets for the process industries, and the acquisition will add to its network of service centres. Andy Taylor is Managing Director.

Hangar8 Malta acquired - international expansion
Oxford-based private jet operator Hangar8 Plc has acquired a 49% share in a new Maltese business, Hangar8 Malta, as part of its international expansion strategy. Hangar8, which has a £1.8m turnover and 37 employees, has the option to take on a controlling 51% share in the company.

Acquires Forcetenco - expansion of technology for visually impaired
Northampton-based Sight and Sound Technology has acquired Surrey-based The Force Ten Company (Forcetenco) for an undisclosed sum. Forcetenco specialises in low vision aids and assistive hearing products and the acquisition will strengthen Sight and Sound's range of technology for the visually impaired.

31 jobs lost - takeover by Yeomans - further jobs at risk
Distribution staff headcount at Gelert Ltd's £4.5m headquarters in Porthmadog, Wales has been cut by 31 following the company's takeover by outdoor goods retailer Yeomans in late 2011. There is also concern over the future of the remaining 50 administration workers at Porthmadog.
