£80k capital investment - library refurbishment
Devon County Council is investing £80,000 to refurbish Sidmouth Library. It is installing self-service technology and wireless internet access as part of the investment. The technology will be introduced across the county to make libraries faster and more efficient.

21 jobs at risk - selling training centre - £755,000 cost savings strategy
Calderdale Council is selling Heath Training Centre in Halifax and will unse the funds for a new library. It is reorganising school-improvement services to help save 755,000 a year. Twenty-one jobs will be lost, mainly at the training centre.

Willesden Library Centre refurbishment - creating Cultural Centre
Brent Council is entering into an agreement with Galliford Try Plc to redevelop the Willesden Green Library Centre into a new Cultural Centre which is expected to open in 2014. The council will retain the freehold while Galliford Try will build homes behind the centre for market sale in return for the development.

Closing Norwich studios - loss of 35 jobs
ITV Plc is closing ITV studio in Norfolk in 2012 with the loss of up to 35 jobs. Programmes made at the studios include Wild Britain with Ray Mears and Safari Vet School. The studio's overheads and investment needs have become unsustainable. ITV is working with staff to discuss redeployment options.

£3.4m library investment -
Nottinghamshire County Council has reopened Mansfield Library following £3.4m refurbishment. A theatre within the building has also been refurbished. The library has bee stocked with £40,000 of new books and has 35,000 books in total. It is expected to attract 300,000 visitors every year.

Gwynedd Council is planning to launch a new heritage project in Gwynedd and Conwy. The project will increase visitor numbers, boost the local economy and create 160 jobs.
