8bn dollar business sold - Acquired by investment management business
The entire issued share capital of Financial Risk Management Limited (FRM Ltd), a global hedge fund research and investment specialist with offices in London, is to be acquired by alternative investment management business Man Group Plc as part of its business development strategy. FRM Ltd has funds under management of approximately 8.0 billion dollars. Blaine Tomlinson is Chief Executive of FRM.

Creating 50 jobs - Olympics cause increased demand - contact centre expansion
Scotland-based contact centre operator Journeycall, is recruiting up to 50 more employees to deal with an expected increase in customer calls related to the 2012 Olympics. Infinis contract secured - potential new jobs
Nordex has secured a major contract with Infinis, to supply 2.5MW turbines to five windfarms. The 22 turbines will be installed at two windfarms in Scotland and five in England. Construction work will commence in 2012, with the expected creation of new jobs. 2010 turnover £84.1m, 86 employees.

£516,000 loss recorded - acquisition - £10m fundraising
Cheshire-based Sterling Green Group recorded a loss after taxation for the year to March 2012 of £516,000, compared with £1.9m in 2011. The figure includes costs and losses of £344,000 relating to the disposal of its trading subsidiaries in December 2011. It is acquiring another company and is raising £10m through a share placing.

A piltot project launched by Northern Film & Media to create jobs in the creative industries has provded successful, with companies adding 27 full-time posts in spring 2012. The company launched the £72,000 Creative Jobs Fund in February 2012. 2011 turnover £3.5m.

Business expansion - New Norway base
Highland-based offshore engineering and fabrication firm Global Energy Group is establishing its first permanent base in Norway. The base will support work already being undertaken for oil operators in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea.
