Partnership with Coca-Cola - new £15m recycling unit - 30 new jobs
Eco Plastics has opened at £15m recycling facility at its site in Hemswell, Lincolnshire, in partnership with Coca-Cola Enterprises. The Continuum Reclycling joint venture will create 30 jobs and will allow Eco Plastics to process 40,000t of Polyethylene terephthalate bottle-grade plastic per year. 2010 turnover £18.3m, 116 employees.

Major contract secured - high temperature incinerator management - potential new jobs
Waste management group Augean has secured a 10-year contract to manage and operate a commercial high temperature incinerator (HTI) at Discovery Park in Sandwich, Kent. The HTI is expected to provide capacity to process 10,000 tonnes per annum of waste. The contract has the potential to create jobs. 2010: turnover £34.1m, 218 employees.

Waste management business Shanks has seen robust trading despite challenging trading conditions. The firm has also achieved financial close on a 25-year contract with Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham councils worth £750 million.

Revenue and profit growth - £10m refinancing agreement - positive outlook
Waste management group Augean made significant progress in 2011 with revenues increasing to £37.4m and pre-tax profit increasing to £1.4m. Augean completed a £10m refinancing agreement with HSBC Corporate Banking in March 2012. Despite competitive market conditions the companys outlook for 2012 is positive.

£1m contract won - Revenue £31.1m - Profit £2.5m
Hydro International has won a £1m contract to supply its Hydro-Sludge Screen product to ten wastewater plants across the East of England. This follows a number of contract wins in the US last year, including the award of a $1.7m (£1.1m) contract for a wastewater treatment plant in Washington DC. Steve Hides is Chief Executive.

63 potential new jobs - £20m recycling facility
Waste management company Shanks Plc is planning a £20m plant near Carlisle, Cumbria, to process 75,000 tonnes of household waste annually. Plans have been submitted for a treatment plant, weighbridges, admin block, and recycling storage building. The scheme should create 23 jobs as well as 40 construction jobs. 2011 turnover was £717.3m; employees numbered 4,246.
