£3m college expansion - 40 new jobs - vocational training development
Doncaster Deaf Trust is investing £3.2m in a social enterprise centre to offer vocational training for students. The scheme would create 40 office-based jobs. An earlier plan for a £17.5m development was abandoned due to financial restraints. The trust may also create facilities for young people with autism. 2011 turnover £8.1m, 246 employees.

Management buy-out - jobs created - business expansion strategy
Birmingham-based financial recruitment specialist Greenwell Gleeson has undergone a management buy-out. Managing Director Rob Lawton acquired the business from its parent company Amadeus FiRe Group and is now planning further UK and international expansion. Two consultants have been appointed to support an increase in client numbers.

Advanced Childcare has acquired Rochdale-based Continuum Care and Education Group, creating a national-scale provider to offer therapeutic care to local authorities for looked-after-children. Further expansion is planned, with 875 new jobs being created over four years. 2010 turnover 14.9m, 303 employees.

Finance Director Appointed - Turnover £61.7m - 890 Employees
Professional information and training group, Wilmington Group have appointed Tony Foye as Finance Director. Foye will join the board in September and commence his position at the AGM in November 2012 to replace Basil Brookes who will retire from the Group at the end of the year. 300 jobs lost - Oxford office closed
RM Education has closed one of the firms buildings in Oxford after the company made 300 job losses. The building will be sub-let with workers moving into the firms other two buildings nearby. No further job losses are planned with 960 staff continuing to work in Oxford. Suzanne Kyle is a spokesman for the company.

London Metropolitan University has warned 2,000 staff that they are at risk of redundancy. The university plans to close around 400 courses. It is not yet known which jobs will be affected by the cuts.

60 new jobs - £12m contract - new scheme to assist workless families
The Wise Group has been awarded a £12m contract by the Department for Work and Pensions, to help workless families in north-east England. The Wise Group will recruit 30 staff and its subcontractors will employ another 30. European Social Fund money will be used for the 'Support for Families with Multiple Problems' initiative.
