640 jobs at risk - compulsory redundancies delayed
IT services company CSC is reducing headcount in the UK by 640 in the second phase of a wider programme affecting 1,100 jobs in total. The company has delayed compulsory redundancies until as many at-risk staff as possible can be found jobs at other companies that require similar skills.

Acquires Virtual Computer - mobile device expansion
US-based Citrix Systems has acquired desktop virtualisation vendor Virtual Computer. Virtual Computers PC management platform, NxTop, will be merged with Citrix Systems XenClient hypervisor to create an enterprise version of the product aimed at laptop users.

Business growth - Profit 11m - Sales 91.7m - 900 staff
Credit services and marketing business Callcredit has reported a pre-tax profit of 11m in the year to 31 December 2011, up from 9.9m in 2010. Total sales were 91.7m and staff numbers increased from 800 to 900. Several acquisitions contributed to the growth. John McAndrew is the chief executive.

13m takeover by Adapt - business expansion
Cardiff-based cloud computing company eLinia has been acquired by Lyceum Capital portfolio company Adapt for £13m. The takeover will support eLinias plans to expand and provide services on a larger scale. Elinia operates data centres in Cardiff, Newport and Slough. Year to January 2011: turnover £6.4m, 50 employees.

640 UK job losses - Turnover £1.2bn - 7550 Employees

New five year contract with builders merchant - £10m product development
Essex based EDP, a company which specialises in the building merchant sector, has been commissioned by north east builders merchant Thompson Building Centres for a £500,000 investment in software to help improve and advance the companys services. Thompson Building Centres has signed a five year agreement with EDP and is adopting its new Quantum VS system. EDP have spent £10m developing the Quantum VS system.

Contract secured to provide fund administration
IFDS, a provider of account administration services, has secured a contract with London based Invesco Perpetual, an investment company, to provide fund administration. The outsourcing will see IFDS placed in charge of day to day servicing for clients of Invesco Perpetuals funds. The move will be completed in June 2012.
