Slower trading - fall in sales
Black cab manufacturer Manganese Bronze Holdings has experienced slower trading and expects UK sales in the first half of 2012 to be lower than for the first half of 2011. Trading has been affected by weak business confidence due to adverse economic conditions. Sales are expected to improve in the second half. 2010 turnover £69.5m, 321 employees.

£60m order - 1016 machines for Brazilian Government
Excavator manufacturer JCB has secured a £60m order with the Brazilian Government for 1,016 machines. The order is for a fleet of backhoe loaders which will be used to improve the road infrastructure in the country. The first 114 have now been delivered.

700 new jobs - £125m investment
Vauxhall Motors has confirmed that 700 jobs will be created at its factory in Ellesmere Port, Merseyside. The factory will work an additional shift in order to build the new Astra, with assembly of the new car scheduled to start in 2015.

Ellesmere Port factory safeguarded - 100s new jobs - new Astra model
General Motors has indicated that the future of Vauxhall factory in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire is secure, along with 2,100 jobs. The manufacturer is expected to confirm the creation of hundreds more jobs at the plant. The factory is expected to produce the new Astra, along with a factory in Poland, from 2015.

New training academy - 230 jobs created
Aston Martin has opened a 1,400 sq m new training academy in Gaydon, Warwickshire, to train new employees. 230 new jobs have been created by the transfer of production of the Rapide model from Austria to Gaydon. Training will be carried out by staff recruited from the company's own production lines.

Possible production increase - securing 2,100 jobs
