Revenue rises 2 per cent at publishing company - Profit up 1 per cent
London based publishing company, Totally Plc, has recorded revenues from continuing operations of £1.85m, up 2 per cent from 2010. Gross Profit from continuing operations rose 1 per cent to £1.46m. Dr Michael Sinclair is Non-Executive Chairman of Totally Plc.

Acquires Certiport - expansion of professional testing business
Person Plc is acquiring US-based Certiport Inc. from Spire Capital Partners for 140m dollars. The acquisition will strengthen Pearsons professional testing business. Rapidly-expanding Certiport, which develops certification exams and practice tests of IT and digital literacy skills, recorded revenues of 48m dollars in 2011.

£10 private equity investment - acquired by Endless
Private equity firm Endless has invested £10m in the acquisition of Cinesite from Kodak. Digital effects company Cinesites operates in a high-growth where there are significant opportunities. Endless is recapitalising the business in order to give film-makers the confidence to award it new contracts.

ITV has appointed Ruth Clarke as Director of Acquisitions and Co-productions for ITV Studios Global Entertainment. She will oversee the company's acquisition and co-production strategy and report to managing director Maria Kyriacou. Clarke was most recently senior VP and head of EMEA at Shine International.

Product development ongoing - commercial launch planned
Motive Television is making progress in its BCJV LLC joint venture with Granite Broadcasting Corporation, to enable Television Anytime Anywhere over broadcast television to tablet devices. A Technical Feasibility Analysis and Business Plan has been approved. Technical development of the product will begin in June 2012, leading to a commercial launch in Spring 2013. 2010 turnover £1.3m.

A piltot project launched by Northern Film & Media to create jobs in the creative industries has provded successful, with companies adding 27 full-time posts in spring 2012. The company launched the £72,000 Creative Jobs Fund in February 2012. 2011 turnover £3.5m.

Opens £750,000 factory - new contracts - business expansion
Print Graphic, which provides graphic design and commercial print services, has opened a new £750,000 factory in Carlisle, Cumbria. The expanding company has gained a number of new contracts since the move and has invested in printing, folding and laminating machines. Print Graphic employs 11 staff.

Group loss of £3.56bn - Sales down 9.6% to £50bn - Major restructuring
Japanese electronics giant Sony has posted a loss of £3.56bn in the year to March 2012, its fourth consecutive year of loss. Sales fell 9.6% to £50bn. The company has begun a restructuring plan which will cut 10,000 jobs and cost £620m. It is on course to post a net profit of £233m for the year to March 2013.
