Yoplait franchise sold back - 50 jobs lost - Turnover 6.6m
Irish dairy and ingredients group Glanbia has agreed to sell its local rights to Yoplait back to the yoghurt maker. Under the agreement, Yoplait will reacquire the franchise for EUR18m and will progressively take over responsibility for production, marketing and account management in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. As a result, production will cease at Glanbia's facility in Inch, Co. Wexford with the loss of 50 jobs.

Production expansion - retructuring bakery operations - 160 jobs at risk
Retailer Morrisons is consolidating bakery production at its site in Wigan, in order to increase production. Its bakery in Wakefield will expand by 41,250 sq ft but the Wigan bakery will close down with 160 job losses. The company hopes to relocate as many Wigan staff as possible. 2011 turnover £16.48bn, 132,074 employees.

Private equity investment - business expansion - potential new jobs
Carmarthenshire pet food producer Cambrian Pet Foods has secured investment from Swander Pace Capital, an American private equity firm to support its strategy to become the leading UK provider of specialist, holistic, dietetic and convalescent pet foods. The expansion is expected to create jobs. Cambrian Pet Foods has 80 employees and turnover of £16m.

£21m capital investment - Colne abbatoir expansion
WM Morrison Supermarkets is investing £21m to expand the Woodhead Brothers abbatoir in Colne, Lancashire. An extra 4,445 square metres of space will be created at the abbatoir which is wholly owned by Morrisons. The introduction of state-of-the art machinery will allow thousands more livestock to be processed at the plant.
