Reorganisation - 440 Jobs at Risk - Distribution Centre Relocation
Catalogue retailer Argos plans to reclocate its Midlands distribution centre from Corby to Lutterworth in Leicestershire with a view of cutting network costs. The work is due to commence in Summer and complete by Autumn 2012. 440 jobs are at risk in Northamptonshire.

Sales team restructured - Five new staff appointed
Scolmore International Limited, which markets and distributes electrical products and accessories, has restructured its sales team to strengthen the companys efforts to develop new business opportunities as well as build existing accounts. The team has expanded to three regions and will comprise eleven sales areas for each area of the country, covered by a business development manager as well as an area sales manager. The company has appointed five new staff as a direct result. Michael Feist is the Area Sales Manager for the West Midlands. Adrian Fairclough will join the company as Business Development Manager for the Midlands region. David Rankin has taken on the role of Business Development Manager for Northern Ireland. Barry Taylor joins Scolmore as Regional Sales Manager for the new Scotland & Northern Ireland region. John Lonnon, the most recent addition to the sales force, has joined the company as Business Development Manager for the South East. Ian Hunter is the National Sales Manager.

£8m expansion - 100 new jobs - relocated to larger premises
Hawk Group, which specialises in heavy plant hire, has moved from Loppington, Shropshire to larger premises near Whitchurch, Shropshire, as part of an £8m expansion plans. The company is creating 100 jobs and has invested in 60 new hydraulic excavators and 20 forklift truck-like telehandlers in order to gain more international business.

£4bn orders - Sales £4.09bn - 5046 employees
ENGINEERING company Alstom has secured orders worth more than £4 billion for its third quarter. The French-owned company, which employs almost 2,000 people in Stafford, received £4.09 billion of orders from October last year to the end of December. Sales also reached £4.09 billion.

16 apprenticeships - £30m turnover target
Sheet metal specialist KMF Ltd is taking on 16 apprentices in 2012, compared with 6 in 2011. The expanding firm expects turnover to exceed £30m in 2012. After completing the two to four year apprenticeship, apprentices can study for HNC and HND qualifications and management training while employed by KMF.
