Petroplus Refining and Marketing, the company that runs Coryton oil refinery has gone into administration leaving 1,000 jobs at risk at the site in Thurrock. Coryton refinery will continue to to operate without disruption while the financial position is clarified and restructuring options are explored. Jean-Paul Vettier is Cheif Executive Officer.

Petroplus has gone into administration after a £1m credit line was withdrawn by the bank. Administrators PwC are seeking a buyer. The refinery in Coryton, Essex, employs 1,000 people and supplies 20% of petrol stations in the South East and London.

Oil company GB Oils, based in Warrington, Cheshire, has been granted approval by the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) to purchase Bristol-based Severn Fuels. Severn Fuels, which was established in 1981, delivers fuel across the Forest of Dean and Bristol in the South West and in South Wales.
