Premier Inn has opened a £4.5m hotel in Paignton, Devon. The 61-bed Paignton South Premier Inn and 220-cover White Rock Beefeater Grill have created 50 new jobs. Premier Inn Hotels Ltd recorded £87.4m turnover in 2011 and employed 3,433 staff.

Accor is expanding the Ibis hotel in Fulham, London with an extra 260 rooms, due to high demand in the area. The hotel will have 774 beds following the expansion. A new health club, restaurant and shops will also be built. The investment is expected to create new jobs.

Hilton has secured funding from the government Growing Places fund to redevelop the vacant Joplings department store in Sunderland into a 119-bedroom Hampton by Hilton hotel with new shops. The development is expected to create employment and business opportunities. 2010 turnover 61.1m.
