AES Engineering's AESPUMP has bought pump repairer and supplier Absolute Vacuum for an undisclosed sum. AESPUMP, based in Bedford, manages pump assets for the process industries, and the acquisition will add to its network of service centres. AES Engineering Manager is Chris Rea.

A DUDLEY subcontract laser cutting firm, Midtherm Laser, is carrying out a £1.9 million investment project which is due to be completed by summer 2012. The development will include an environmentally-friendly designed building, which will house a new, state-of-the-art laser cutting machine, a press brake machine, racking for storing sheet materials and car parking. Newburgh Engineering, based in Yorkshire, has secured a contract to produce engine components for the Perkins Engines Company. Newburghs Rotherham, Yorkshire site won the contract after completing Perkins supplier tendering process. Matthew Jewitt is the Commercial Manager.

Engineering company Damper Technology is opening an Indian subsidiary. The company will subcontract manufacturing to a company in Bangalore until a manufacturing facility can be purchased or built. Mark Hancock is managing director of Damper, which employs 20 people in Ilkeston, Derbyshire.
