Doncaster Deaf Trust is investing £3.2m in a social enterprise centre to offer vocational training for students. The scheme would create 40 office-based jobs. An earlier plan for a £17.5m development was abandoned due to financial restraints. The trust may also create facilities for young people with autism. 2011 turnover £8.1m, 246 employees.

Birmingham-based financial recruitment specialist Greenwell Gleeson has undergone a management buy-out. Managing Director Rob Lawton acquired the business from its parent company Amadeus FiRe Group and is now planning further UK and international expansion. Two consultants have been appointed to support an increase in client numbers.

Advanced Childcare has acquired Rochdale-based Continuum Care and Education Group, creating a national-scale provider to offer therapeutic care to local authorities for looked-after-children. Further expansion is planned, with 875 new jobs being created over four years. 2010 turnover 14.9m, 303 employees.

Professional information and training group, Wilmington Group have appointed Tony Foye as Finance Director. Foye will join the board in September and commence his position at the AGM in November 2012 to replace Basil Brookes who will retire from the Group at the end of the year. Charles Brady is Group Chief Executive.
